Did you know that there are approximately 1.2 million adults and 1.5 million children nationwide, experiencing homelessness every day? This is such an unacceptable number, hiking with a 12% increase between the years of 2022 and 2023, it is predicted that if this continues, the number will double in size over the next 5-6 years. What changes can we make to bring these numbers down?
The company of Robert Craig Films is devoted to help those numbers drop, by donating 50% of their video proceeds to several organizations nationwide, that help healing homelessness within their communities. The recent film that they made is called "No Address" and it brings attention to different homeless scenarios, showing that no matter your experiences or lifestyle, it could literally happen to anyone at anytime. The film is based around a young girl in foster care, that has "aged out" of the system, causing her to lose everything in her life, becoming homeless... but not hopeless.
It's easy to not really pay attention to having a roof over your head, maybe taking it for granted if it's always been there for you without a worry or concern that it will be taken away. Watching the movie, No Address, really helps you think about the different situations people can come across, not having a place to call their home, sometimes by no means of their own. It's a sad but real life issue we face as a society, that we really need to find a way to manage better and get those numbers down. I really enjoyed watching this film, and seeing the hope and resilience each member holds within them. There was a lot of sadness and pain in this movie, but also the realness it brings and to show that not all homeless camps are what they seem. These are real lives that we are talking about, and they need our help.
If you're interested in seeing No Address in theaters, you can visit fathomenertainment.com to purchase tickets and see it in theaters starting February 28th! Remember that 50% of their net profits go to helping the homeless! Some other ways you can help would be to donate to organizations like National Alliance to End Homelessness and Family Promise. Or volunteer in a soup kitchen, donate goods, and just be a friend and help those who need help, especially if they're facing the prospect of homelessness.
