Hearty and Healthy Homemade Chili Better Than Grandma Makes

My grandma always made homemade chili for family get togethers, so when the cold weather arrives, I find myself longing for it. I decided to make my own version of her chili, and I'm pleased with how well it turned out! To make this chili, you need the following ingredients:

Ingredients:
1lb. Ground Beef (Pre Cooked or cooked first)
1 TBS Oil (I used Avocado Oil but any is fine)
Lots of Veggies, either by chopping fresh or using frozen like I did. I used frozen peppers, onions, kale, and spinach
Garlic + Onion fresh chopped or powdered seasoning to your taste
1 1/2 TBS Chili Powder
1 tsp. Dried Herb (Such as Oregano, but I used Basil+Thyme)
1 tsp. Ground Cumin
1/2 tsp. Paprika
A Dash of Salt
Ground Black Pepper
2 TBS BBQ Sauce
1 Can of Beans, drained (I used Black Beans)
And approximately 2 cups of water, more of less depending on how liquidy you want it. And if you find it contains too much liquid, you can add in 2TBS Cornstarch + 3TBS water to thicken it up.

Have your ground meat cooking, you can either have this precooked, or cook everything in the same pan. You can also mix it up with whatever type of meat you enjoy. I did Ground Sirloin for mine and it was delicious. Be sure to have the grease drained from the meat, before adding it to the chili. I precooked the meat so I started the oil and veggies in a pot. Let them simmer together and then add in the dried seasonings. Then the BBQ sauce, which you can use tomato paste or even ketchup in place of this if need be. Then add in the meat and drained beans, mixing all together, while slowly adding in water to the amount you desire. Let this simmer with a lid on, until heated thoroughly and ready to eat! This chili pairs well with homemade cornbread and delicious toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, chives, tomatoes, whatever your taste buds love.

Enjoy!
