The taste of Besan/Gram Flour (also known as Chickpea Flour) is an interesting flavor to get use to, but it does make delicious flatbread! I recently tried my hand at making a yeast free loaf of Chickpea Bread using my previously reviewed Jiva USDA Organic Besan/Gram Flour, and though the flavor is strong, the bread turned out perfectly. If you are not use to the taste, it definitely gets some taking use to, but this is an easy and quick recipe!
To make Chickpea Bread you need the following ingredients:
2 Cups of Besan/Gram Flour (Chickpea Flour)
1/2 T. of Baking Powder
1/2 T. of Baking Soda
3/4 Cup of Warm Water
1 tsp. of Salt
1 egg
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and mix all dry ingredients together, then crack in your egg and slowly mix in the water. The batter will be a wet thickness, similar to cake batter. Plop your batter in
to a greased bread loaf pan and bake for approximately 20 minutes or so, until done. Place a clean toothpick or butter knife in the center to check for doneness. Then let it cool until ready to eat!
We ate our Chickpea Bread with a hot bowl of homemade chili! But it would be good with many other soups, curries, or even with jelly!
