Love, Skip, Jump written by Shelene Bryan, is an inspiring read about herself, and the stories she tells about her life paths she goes on. It all started when Shelene decided to go on a trip to Africa, to see if the two kids she sponsored through a food program, were indeed real. Throughout her journey, she's learned to say yes to God and His plans, while "loving how our Creator made us to love; skipping comfort and safety to help those who can never repay us; and taking a risk to jump into the epic journey God has for our lives". Shelene writes of how her life changed, seeing that it isn't just about herself,
and realizing she can use her means to help those in need.
I could just feel the joy come out of the book as I was reading. You can really feel Shelene's words and see her heart as she writes. She sounds like an amazing woman, with so many great intentions. I love that she is sharing her journey with others, and helping out who she can. I have always wanted to help those in poorer countries, but it seems like you have to have a lot of money to do so. In reading Love, Skip, Jump...the way Shelene describes her life, she seems pretty well off and able to spend money as she pleases...which, in a way, was kind of discouraging for those who's money is tight. But once she mentioned how a small amount of American money can be stretched to a lot in other cultures... it was encouraging to see, we all really can help! Big or small, no matter the amount of money, it can be used for good in some sort of way. And that leads us to Skip1. Skip1, founded by Shelene; is a charity dedicated to providing food and clean water to children and families around the world. The idea, is that, instead of spending money on something you don't really need, latte, manicure, car wash, ect., you skip it, and donate that money to Skip1.org We can make a difference!
If you would like to donate, visit www.skip1.org/welcome where you will also find more information and other Skip1 Projects.
