Let There Be Light is a children's story book written by the Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and illustrated by New York times bestselling author of On the Night You Were Born, Nancy Tillman.
This book is filled with beauty and warmth, retelling the Biblical story of God's creation on each of the seven days, written in a way children can understand and love. The beginning of the book has a place to dedicate the book to, then a letter from the author and illustrator. I've never seen letters written in the beginning of a story book, and I kind of like it! Each of these letters are filled with words of encouragement like "you are part of something truly amazing!" and "without you the world would not be quite as bright and beautiful." Each page has a hidden picture of a mystical being, whether it is suppose to be God or an angel, the illustrator puts it as "God's world is magical and magnificent. God has put color everywhere! As you explore the pictures in this book, look for it in unexpected places. I'll bet you'll find it!" My son had a lot of fun finding the picture on each page. I liked that it was able to get across Bible stories in a way he can understand. This book is just too cute to pass up. It is truly beautiful!
*I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for my review. All opinions my own.
